Born in China, Borun Li demonstrated an exceptional musical sensitivity from an early age. His profound interest in music and sustained artistic curiosity naturally led him to the path of piano performance, a direction he has pursued with unwavering dedication ever since.
Borun Li is a prizewinner of numerous international piano competitions. He was awarded Third Prize at the Baltic International Piano Competition in Poland, where he also received the Chopin Award for Best Interpretation, recognizing the depth and stylistic authority of his Chopin performances.
He additionally won First Prize at the regional round of the 15th Chinese Golden Bell Awards, and Sixth Prize at the Artur Rubinstein International Piano Competition for Young Pianists.
As a soloist, Borun Li possesses extensive concert experience and a remarkably broad repertoire. While particularly acclaimed for his interpretations of Chopin, his repertoire also includes some of the most demanding works in the piano literature, such as Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit, Stravinsky’s Petrushka, and Schumann’s Toccata.
Currently based in Germany, Borun Li performs regularly across Europe and China, with solo recitals at venues including the Royal Museums of Belgium, the Gdańsk Philharmonic Hall, the Eppan Concert Hall in Italy, and concert halls in Tours, France.
He studies in the Solo Class at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Arie Vardi, and his artistic development has been further shaped by musicians such as Gerrit Zitterbart, Veda Kaplinsky, Andrea Bonatta, Dmitri Alexeev, Pavel Gililov, Balázs Szokolay, and Marc-André Hamelin.
